It's been decided...

I am going to get a Katie Holmes haircut. I want to get it done at this fancy place in the Lou called Salon St. Louis, but I also want/need to get it cut before Pete's graduation party, which is this Sunday. I may not be able to get squeezed in, but we'll see...

Our flood

Well, it isn't MY flood, but you know...Pete and I were driving around the other day and, well, this is what we saw:

It once looked like this:

I guess our fair city has been getting some rain, huh?

I've been tagged, now you can too!!!

Wheee! This is fun.

Thanks for the tag, lovely Laura!!!!

1} What was I doing 10 years ago?
Absolutely nothing. They were the best summers ever - playing softball, swimming, running through the sprinkler, going on family vacations to Disney World or Hilton Head, playing with friends, spending afternoons at the library...oh my gosh, they were great.

2} What are 5 things on my to-do list for today?
1 - Go to the library. It's time to pick up A Circle of Quiet by Madeline L'Engle. I am so excited to read it!
2 - Work at Wilson - last day! :( Even though there were some hard moments, it was a really great year. I am really sad I can't work there next year (as of yet).
3 - Go see the new Indiana Jones movie. I've heard both good and bad things about it. But I mean, come on, it's INDIANA JONES. It has to be at least a little good.
4 - Read the newest Entertainment Weekly I picked up last night - which proudly boasts "63 Pages of 'Sex'!" (referring to Sex and the City: the Movie)
5 - Meet up with Pete, who will be coming up here with his brand new BIKE! (Which I taught him to ride)

3} Snacks I enjoy:
Cheez-Its, Fluffernutters, pretzels, flavored popcorn, Malomars, Reeses, Babybel cheese with Cracked Pepper and Olive Oil Crackers

4} Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
+ Pay off student loans
+ Give a hell of a lot of money to StudioSTL and 826 Chicago
+ Buy Mom and Dad a house in San Francisco, the place they want to retire to (I wouldn't mind joining them)
+ Buy a whole Ark of animals for a village from Heifer International
+ Save money for my kids' college educations
+ Buy a house in the Central West End, on Lindell Blvd...I practically drool every time I drive by. Gorgeous, and they overlook the beautiful Forest Park
+ Get laser hair removal
+ Buy a bright blue or yellow awesome KitchenAid mixer with every imaginable attachment

5} Places I have lived before:
Soulard, SLU, Lake Forest for two weeks (I guess that counts, right?)

6} 5 people I want to know more about:
(this part will come later. have to run to work!)

Redhead

Seeing Jo's gorgeous pictures make me want to switch to a wilder, more fun hair color. I've pretty much always had the ho-hum dark brown hair color. Maybe it's time for a change? I want red! I can't see my olive-colored skin going very well with blonde...

Graduations and other things

It's been awhile, I'm sorry. But I have good reason! I haven't woken up last 7:30 AM the last two weeks! And I've been going going going all day since then!

In other news, Emme graduated from Rosati-Kain, and Pete graduated from SLU.

I know, cute, right?

This whole week I've been working at the Cakery and finishing up at Wilson, which has made for ten or eleven hour days...yay, summer?

My Aunt Kathy, Uncle Scott, and Grandma and Grandpa came in for Emme's graduation, which was nice. It was fun to hang out and see everyone, since they all live far away and we live here.

And that's pretty much it. Not much to report here, just getting stuff together. Pete is coming back to St. Louis today and I'm excited to see him again! Hopefully we won't be apart very long again, because it's hard. He's truly wonderful...

Yummy!

This really DOES have to be the best looking carrot cake ever. Seeing those pictures sort of makes me want to drool...

In other yummy news, I begin working at the Cakery next week! I am super excited and I will be taking sooo many pictures. Macro and normal. Woo!

And lastly, look at these yummies!

Found on Mahar Drygoods, a fantabulous site I get lost in.

Danish Couch

I think I'm going to pick this up tomorrow, reupholster it this summer, and then put it in Pete's future apartment (anyone know of a good one in St. Louis?) so that I can use it in the future. Or it can take up residence in my garage at home. But I see potential here...

Secret #2

I have this great habit of watching a new movie (this really only counts when I see a film in theatres) and then REALLY, REALLY wanting to be the character in the movie.

For instance, Pete and I just got back from Iron Man. I was being a little butthead about it, because after classes all day and a reslife banquet, I just wanted to go to sleep. BUT, we went and it was...AWESOME. I mean...AWESOME. And of course I want to be a superhero after this. I would even go for playing Pepper Potts, Gwyneth Paltrow's character, the cool assistant to Robert Downey Jr.'s character.

My first memory of this heavy desire to become what I've just seen was after watching (cringe, I know) Sum of All Fears...yes, that Sum of All Fears, the one starring Ben Affleck, based on that Tom Clancy novel. That night, I dreamt that I was Ben Affleck and that I had to save the world.

Then, next was X2. I wanted to be an X-Man (X-Woman?). It was great. Good, good film.

And then, it was Pirates of the Caribbean. I've also wanted to be a soccer player after seeing Bend it Like Beckham. I wanted to play softball after A League of Their Own. Then, there's the practically should TOTALLY be obvious film called ALMOST FAMOUS. I watched that movie for the first time, and soon after began to write for a little magazine called playback:stl. It's no Rolling Stone, but I sort of achieved my dream. Next stop, superhero!
